nightbird ceramics is a ceramic artist living in Seattle, WA. They enjoy building strange things from clay. The coiling method is their latest obsession, due to its ability to expand and contract in ways that other making techniques cannot quite replicate. In the past year of their practice, they've had so much fun asking: What happens when a small-scale "rule" is scaled up across an entire piece? How does an initial two-dimensional shape flow upwards and outwards to become something completely different?
