My passion for art stems from a need for emotional expression and a sense of safety. Born in Indianapolis, I grew up between Illinois and Indiana, with my grandmother Della in Indianapolis providing comfort amid a chaotic childhood. Watching her paint landscapes and enjoying Bob Ross’s “happy little trees” inspired my imagination and love for art.
Although art school wasn’t an option, I never abandoned my dream. I worked various jobs while sketching in my spare time. In 2008, I decided to pursue art seriously, eventually becoming a self-taught tattoo artist by 2010. During this period, I also began painting with acrylics, often starting with trees.
In 2023, I transitioned to oil paints, exploring surreal-style portraits influenced by modern surrealism and illustration. My art serves as a way to process emotions and share my story. Working out of my studio in Indianapolis’s Irvington neighborhood, I believe my portraits communicate beyond words, evoking empathy and reflection, and forging deep connections with viewers.
