How did you get started as an artist?

I have been an artist my entire life. My first experience with art was drawing cartoons. It was always my favorite subject in school. Self-expression through creativity became my interest. I later found art to be a meditative practice that became a spiritual quest to learn deeper insights about myself. The older I get, the more curious I become with wanting to learn more about art, and what it means to create your own style. I am still in the process of finding my style through my artwork.

What themes does your work involve?

The inspiration in my artwork ranges from cubism, neo-expressionism, surrealism, and the rich cultural heritage of Aztec and Mexican culture.

What is your source of inspiration?

My source of inspiration can be found in the artist I studied when I first started painting. I admire the styles of George Condo, Basquiat, Dali, Frida Kahlo, Picasso, Ralph Steadman, and Rufino Tamayo. These are some influences that helped me develop my own style in my paintings. I am collecting new inspirations everyday with new life experiences as well.

Can you describe your creative process?

My creative process involves experimenting a lot. I spend most of the time trying different techniques from experimenting with new subjects, mediums, textures, and color. I have found out that creating art will be a life long pursuit, so trying new ideas to evolve as an artist is always my goal.

Do you have any artistic goals for the future that you would like to share?

My artistic goals are to keep creating and learning. I was raised in a small Midwest town in Logansport, Indiana. I come from the Mexican immigrant roots. I have been taught how to dream, and how to work hard to get everything you deserve. Even when the odds are stacked against you. I don’t know where I am headed, but I inspire to strive and prosper wherever life takes me on this creative journey.
