Late June is a London based design studio founded by ceramicist Jessica Steel. Fluctuating between sculpture and functional design, the development of custom ceramic materials is the unifying focus of Late June. With each collection showcasing a new glaze or clay body series. All created in-house from scratch. Inspiration comes from the history and future of ceramics itself, (ceramic materials inspired by ceramic materials). From how ceramics was first used to aid settlement and ‘civilisation’ as we know it, to its important role as a thermal material in the space industry. - Jessica graduated from the Royal College of Art. During her graduate year she was honoured to gain a distinction grade for a research paper, “The Role of the Ceramicist in Space Travel”. Exploring key points in the history of ceramics, and how this influenced ceramic materials used for space exploration.
