My name is Aaliyah Starke. I am a multimedia artist based in Kansas City, Missouri. My work focuses on a child-like feeling with many images inspired by nature and my own life experiences in the world. I have always been an art kid, but right before college I have been taking art seriously. Since then, I have completed a degree in studio art with the emphasis in drawing, painting, and digital media. My work is characterized by nostalgic imagery from my own childhood, but to others it might just resemble a child-like style. Themes dealing with identity, nature, and personal experience are seen in my work, with heavy inspiration from children’s books. I work primarily with graphite, colored pencil, and digital illustration. My process often includes exploring different color pallets, and techniques of how to apply color in a seductive and eye-catching way. I have been a part of CSU Chico’s Senior Show Collaborative Exhibition in March of 2025, partnered with a peer studio artist.
