Taliyah Starr is a fierce multifaceted creative that focuses on black fem existence and joy. As a self-proclaimed “pnk poster grrl” she expresses herself through alternative basement D-I-Y show culture. She discusses family relationships, cultural identity, sexism, class, and political systems. She creates through the lens of Black surrealism because of its ability to take Black life, which in America is already so surreal, and turn it into something creative, bold, and influential. Taliyah has been in many shows including Rising Talents: a Showcase of 8 Artists under 25 (2024), Black History Month: African Peach Arts Coalition (2024), Look!: A Gallery Exhibition (2023). Her most recent solo shows include her MCA BFA thesis Welcome to STARWORLD: exhume the Last MC (2024) and No Cops, Creeps, Phobes (2024). She appeared in many publications such as Artistas de Color Unidos (2023) and Yarnbomb (2023).
