I’m Sheryl Aronow, and I’m an abstract artist living and working in the Los Angeles area. I grew up in Philadelphia, and received a BFA from Moore Collage of Art in downtown Philly. I think one of the earliest influences on my work was spray painted train cars that I saw on visits to family in Brooklyn. I use acrylic paint and all types of handmade and hand painted papers on paper and wood, to re-create the energy that street art first had on me.
The overall theme in my paintings has been my focus on color, pattern and texture. By using these three elements together, I try to draw the viewer in and have their eye drawn to each corner of the painting to see something different with each glance. By using the patterns that I create, I’m just trying to tap into that energy and excitement I feel about big city living.
