Inheriting her passion for painting from her grandfather, Rebecca Ledbetter studied and explored her studio practice at Denison University, where she earned special recognition for her work with painting and video art. While at Denison, she participated in three group shows, including a self-curated show, entitled “At This Hour I Was Most Myself,” created, fundraised, and organized at the historic Bryn Du Mansion in Granville, Ohio. Post-graduation, she resided in Martha’s Vineyard, in a dual fine arts and marketing internship for a local nonprofit. Here she assembled her next body of work, concluding with two solo shows. After moving to Philadelphia she immersed herself in the artist community there and began to develop her independent studio practice, creating a body of work outside a structured institution. Through this studio practice, she creates a way to transform her reflections from narratives and other written works into thought-provoking and meaningful pieces, even discovering her own coming-of-age story through this process.
