My name is Victoria Bruno, and I am a fourth-year painting major. I was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta, and have a strong connection to the city in which I was brought up. As an artist, I work to create ideas that speak about medical intervention and surgical procedures of the body in regards to my own experience within my practice; being able to capture the physical scars and lifelong effects, as well as the mental trauma that these procedures have caused, have always been an interesting development within my work. With that idea in mind, my artwork tends to be very vocal about issues surrounding mental and physical health from the female perspective and ideas of my own body and how I present that aspect of myself to others.
