Ruth Ryan is a Visual Artist originating from Westmeath now living Kildare, Ireland. Her preferred medium is oil paint on canvas. She recently began to experiment with mixed media, mostly ink and bleach and at times charcoal. Ruth graduated from Limerick School of Art and Design, Limerick, Ireland in 2005 with a BA (Hons) in Ceramic Design. Having spent many years working outside the creative industry, she decided to focus on her passion and returned to the arts fulltime in 2018. Most of Ruth’s work explores action painting through vibrant colours. Ink is spontaneously splashed or poured onto paper or canvas creating movement within her work. Ruth uses large quantities of ink preferring not to control or force the outcome, allowing it to occur naturally. Colour is essential to the development of her pieces in order to create visual impact.
